Информация о продукте
- The Heirs is the story of the destruction suffered by Neanderthal humans after their encounter with Homo sapiens. In his 1955 novel, William Golding places the fear of the unknown other in the prehistoric period when Neanderthals lived their last days on earth. Golding's Neanderthal man is not in full agreement with the scientific findings of the period. Since he believes in the evil of killing, he is content with the food he finds in nature. Golding also attributes to him a talent for religion and telepathy. Considering that the cave paintings, which have recently been found to have been made by Neanderthals in Spain and France, indicate a cognitive capacity indistinguishable from early modern humans, it is obvious that scientific findings on this subject will continue to be updated day by day. In fact, Golding aimed not to produce a work compatible with scientific facts, but to present an alternative history that tells people about humans; With the violence and power struggles he implemented, he sided not with Homo sapiens, the ancestor of modern humans, but with Neanderthals, who lacked the equipment necessary to maintain their existence in the outside world and the ability to transform their perceptions into consistent thought sequences. The Heirs' greatness lies in the formidable style their creator created in his unique imagination, with a tremendous ability of language to convey everything from a Neanderthal perspective. Described by Arthur Koestler as an earthquake in the stone-cut forests of the English novel, The Heirs is one of the most striking works that reveals the violence and corruption of human nature.
