Mass Market Paperback Hard-Boiled Editorial Review
Enero sangriento: 1 MAXI is a compelling addition to the detective genre, published by Maxi-Tusquets on January 13, 2021. This Spanish novel spans 400 pages and follows the story of Harry McCoy, a character emerging from the gritty streets of 60s and 70s Glasgow. Readers have noted that while it adheres to traditional noir themes, it does not introduce anything particularly groundbreaking. Nonetheless, the protagonist's addiction and complex moral landscape keep the pages turning, as highlighted in some positive reviews. However, certain critiques mention a lack of narrative tension and underdeveloped antagonists that detract from the overall experience. Overall, it captures the essence of British police novels, appealing to genre enthusiasts.
