For new aquariums or aquariums with low populations of coral use u00bc to u00bd dose initially and gradually increase as necessary. Advanced The beginner dose raises nitrogen by 0.78 mg/L or approximately 3.5 mg/L nitrate. To target a specific nitrate level, increase dose according to the following formula: 0.009vn=m where v= volume of tank in liters, n=desired nitrate increase, and m= volume of product to use in mL. For example, to raise 160 liters by 3.5 mg/L nitrate you would use 0.009*160*3.5 resulting in 5 mL to dose. For reference: 1 US gallon=3.8 L.
