Hockey Editorial Review
**** "Grumpy Darling," the eagerly anticipated second installment of The Darling Devils series, is a delightful foray into young adult romance that captures the charm of early 2000s romantic comedies. The narrative follows Grayson and Paige, whose journey from friends to lovers is both heartfelt and humorous. Readers have praised the authenticity of their relationship, with many noting the complexity of their feelings as they explore romantic possibilities. The chemistry between Grayson and Paige is palpable, underscored by the support from their friends, particularly Parker, who adds an amusing twist to the dynamic. Critics have celebrated the book for bypassing some common tropes often seen in YA romance, like the overused "I don’t want to ruin our friendship" plotline and the dreaded third-act breakup. Instead, the story unfolds in a wholesome manner, filled with genuine emotions and relatable characters. There’s a notable absence of spiciness, instead opting for a sweet, innocent tone that suits the genre. While some readers hoped for a deeper emotional impact or more plot twists, the overall reception has been largely positive, highlighting the book's charm, humor, and clever dialogue. For fans of friends-to-more romances and those who appreciate a blend of humor, sweetness, and a backdrop of hockey, "Grumpy Darling" shines as an engaging tale. It's clear that Alexandra Moody has crafted a story worth indulging in, leaving readers eagerly anticipating the next installment in the series. **
