ABUS U-Locks 39704 Editorial Review

The Abus Granit 640 U-Lock has garnered a mixed yet generally positive reception among customers. Many users appreciate its lightweight design, noting that at just under 2 pounds, it is the lightest U-lock available with a commendable security rating of 12 out of 15 on the Abus scale. This makes it an excellent choice for those looking for a balance between portability and security. Customers have also highlighted its solid Construction, which effectively serves its purpose of deterring theft—keeping honest people honest, as they say. However, potential buyers should be aware of the lock's limitations. Its compact size can pose challenges when trying to secure a bicycle to thicker bike racks; users often find that it may not reach, especially when needing to secure both the frame and a wheel. Additionally, some users have commented on the key alignment being a bit tricky at first, though they quickly adapt. The necessity of purchasing additional mounting kits for proper setup has caused some confusion for buyers. While the general Consensus is that this lock provides good value for its price, especially in combination with its high security rating, users advise against relying entirely on it for securing expensive bikes in unattended locations. Some customers have reported that despite its sturdy build, it may not withstand advanced theft techniques such as the use of angle grinders or lock picking by skilled thieves. Overall, the Abus Granit 640 U-Lock is suitable for casual bikers looking for a lightweight, portable, and stylish locking option, but users need to Consider its size Constraints and employ additional caution when parking in less secure environments. **
